Taking Mindful Leadership to the Next Level
Develop the skills and perspective to better lead in times of crisis. Build a robust toolkit of resources that you can call on for years to come to be the best leader you can be. And importantly, develop a network of peers to learn with and call on for help, each of whom is facing similar challenges and be reminded (and reassured) that you're not alone!
This five-week program is designed for organizational leaders who are looking to improve their skills and knowledge by working intensively with a small group of peers under the expert direction of two of the most progressive business leaders in the country.
The course will run throughout March and is built upon the essays from the Zingerman’s Guide to Good Leading, Part 4: The Power of Beliefs in Business. However, the exact focus of the sessions will be adapted to address specific challenges of the participants, which is why we're keeping the class size small.
Who is the course designed for?
You! And anyone looking to really dig into what it means to be a great leader. But especially entrepreneurs, owners of small-to-medium-sized businesses, key leaders in organizations of any size, and future leaders looking to build their skills and knowledge.
What's the format?
This course consists of five 2.5-hour virtual classroom sessions with ZIngerman's Co-Founder Ari Weinzweig and ZingTrain Founder Maggie Bayless, each with extensive pre-reading and preparation, online dialogue and conversation. Weekly pre-work will be sent to all participants a week before the next virtual classroom session.
Classroom sessions run from Noon - 2:30PM ET on February 28, March 7, 14, 21, and 28
Session 1 – How Beliefs Alter What Happens at Work - February 28, 2023
The relationship between beliefs and business works both ways. What we believe underlies every single thing we do, every day, in every part of our organization. At the same time, our businesses impact the beliefs of the people who come to work with us. Learn where and how your organizational beliefs are having a positive (or not-so-positive) impact on your organization’s culture and performance.
Session 2 - Getting Your Organization Into Alignment - March 7, 2023
In a healthy business as in a healthy body, it’s highly likely that most of the parts are in alignment. And when we get out of whack, whether it’s our back or our business, we’re usually able to get through the day-to-day discomfort for a while. Over time, though, the pain gets worse and we begin to compensate in unhealthy ways. When we live without understanding how our beliefs are impacting our organization, we are often frustrated by a lack of positive results. Explore what it takes to change a belief and how that can help you get back on the path towards your vision of success.
Session 3 - Building a Hopeful Business - March 14, 2023
Effective leaders are almost always high-hope individuals who have the ability to cultivate hope in others around them, growing positive energy in the process. Low hope works in reverse. People with low hope perform poorly. And people who perform poorly start to lose hope. Hopefulness is not a zero-sum game. The more we practice it, the more likely it is to spread to others we interact with. Practice a systematic, teachable and repeatable way to help increase hope in yourself and in those around you.
Session 4 - The Spirit of Generosity - March 21, 2023
The spirit of generosity is an essential element in developing a sustainable organization. It’s not about writing another check to your local charity; it’s a way of life. It’s worth watching. The spirit of generosity--or the lack of it--might well be one of the best indicators of organizational health we have. Generosity in an organization manifests in the smiles, bright eyes and renewed energy of the people who are part of it. Experiment with a variety of techniques for weaving generosity into your workplace.
Session 5 - Building a More Rewarding and Productive Place to Work - March 28, 2023
Sustainable organizations have systems in place that make them less dependent on the strength of any one individual leader--although effective leadership is still very important. Zingerman’s has found that a robust personal introduction to the business along with opportunities for staff to get involved in aspects of the organization beyond their primary job duties are two important ways of helping people feel welcomed, engaged and productive. Finish this course by drafting a Statement of Beliefs for your organization and developing an action plan to get input and feedback.
And of course we'll also be sending you some goodies!
